Yunus Di Perut Ikan
Latar Belakang:
Alkitab tidak menyembunyikan kisah betapa besarnya pergumulan orang dalam mentaati FirmanTuhan yang belum mereka mengerti.
Salah satunya adalah Yunus. Ia tidak setuju dengan perintah Tuhan untuk memberitakan hukuman dan mangajak bertobat orang Niniwe.

Yunus = yônâh (Ibrani) = Jonah = “dove”

yônāh:
A proper noun designating Jonah, a prophet called to preach repentance
to Nineveh. He came from Gath Hepher. His name means "dove." His
father's name was Amittai. Jonah foretold the expansion of Israel under
Jeroboam II (2Ki_14:25). He was called by God to go to Nineveh and
preach repentance to the capital of Assyria. Amazingly, it was his
understanding and grasp of God's compassion and mercy toward the wicked
that caused him to refuse, initially, to fulfill God's call (Jon_4:1-2).

Jon_1:1-17. Jonah’s commission to Nineveh, flight, punishment, and preservation by miracle.
Jonah
— meaning in Hebrew, “dove.” Compare Gen_8:8, Gen_8:9, where the dove
in vain seeks rest after flying from Noah and the ark: so Jonah. Grotius
not so well explains it, “one sprung from Greece” or Ionia, where there
were prophets called Amythaonidae.
Amittai — Hebrew for “truth,” “truth-telling”; appropriate to a prophet.
